ASA Carbon Fiber is considered an engineering grade filament, and as such, there are stricter requirements when it comes to printing this filament.

You will need:

  • An upgraded Nozzle. Ideally Tungsten Carbide, but at minimum a hardened steel nozzle. If you use a normal brass nozzle it will wear out before you can even print 100 grams.
  • A printer that can reach temperatures up to 300°C.
  • A way to dry this filament. This may be a proper filament dryer, or an alternative like a food dehydrator.

Recommended printing parameters

If printing incorrectly, ASA Carbon Fiber can be more fragile and delaminate more than typical filament.

Printed correctly however, it is extremely strong, rigid, and capable of taking a beating :)

A recommended starting point for printing this filament:

  • 300° Hotend Temp
  • 105° Bed Temp
  • 15 second layer time
  • None to Very low fan.
